Micron

A micron (micrometer) is a unit of length equal to one-millionth of a meter, used in HVAC to measure both airborne particles and Vacuum levels. When technicians perform an Evacuation on a new Ductless Mini Splits system, they use a "micron gauge" to ensure all moisture and air have been removed. A target of 500 microns or less is the gold standard for a clean refrigeration system. In terms of air quality, the size of dust and allergens is also measured in microns, with the best filters trapping particles as small as 0.3 microns. You can find precision micron gauges in our Parts department for professional-grade installations. This microscopic level of detail is what determines the long-term reliability of your ACIq condenser. Understanding the "micron level" of your vacuum is the only way to be 100% sure your system is ready for refrigerant. It is the ultimate metric for system purity and filtration efficiency.
