MERV Rating (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value)
MERV is the standard scale used to measure the effectiveness of an air filter at trapping particles between 0.3 and 10 microns. For Mobile Home Furnaces, a MERV 8 filter is a great balance between airflow and filtration, while a MERV 13 is much more effective at catching bacteria and smoke. However, higher MERV filters create more resistance, which can strain your Air Handlers blower motor if it isn't designed for it. You can find a wide variety of MERV-rated filters in our Accessories-Kits collection. Choosing the right rating for your ACIq system is the easiest way to improve your home's air quality without causing mechanical issues. It is important to change these filters regularly, as a clogged MERV 11 filter is worse for your system than a clean MERV 5 filter. It is the universal language for air filtration performance across the globe.
