A low ambient kit is a field-installed accessory that allows an air conditioner or heat pump to operate in cooling mode even when the outside temperature is very low. This is essential for Commercial HVAC applications like server rooms or restaurants where heat is generated year-round regardless of the weather. The kit typically includes a fan speed controller that prevents the Evaporator Coil from freezing when it's cold outside.
