Freeze-Stat

A freeze-stat is a protective temperature sensor installed on an Evaporator Coil that shuts down the compressor if the coil temperature drops below freezing. This prevents the unit from becoming a solid block of ice, which could lead to a flooded home when it eventually melts and can cause the Compressor to fail. Frozen coils are usually caused by dirty filters or low airflow through your Air Handlers. Most ACIq and Light Commercial Mini Splits come with this safety feature built-in to protect the equipment. If your system keeps cutting out, the freeze-stat is doing its job by signaling that there is an underlying airflow or refrigerant issue. You can find replacement sensors in our Parts department to ensure your system's safety logic remains intact. It is a vital safeguard for any air conditioning system operating in humid or low-load conditions. This small sensor prevents what could be an incredibly messy and expensive repair.
