Evaporative Cooling

Evaporative cooling, also known as "swamp cooling," is a method of lowering air temperature by evaporating water into the air stream. This process is incredibly energy-efficient but is only effective in dry, desert climates where humidity is very low. Unlike a standard ACIq air conditioner, an evaporative cooler uses a Pump and a large fan to move air through wet pads. This technology can provide a significant cooling effect for a fraction of the electricity cost of a traditional compressor-based system. However, it does not work well in humid areas and requires a constant supply of fresh water. You can find replacement pads and pumps for these systems in our Water-Plumbing collection. While most modern homes use Ductless Mini Splits, evaporative cooling remains a staple for warehouses and workshops in the Southwest. It is a natural, environmentally friendly way to manage heat in the right geographical conditions.
