Direct Expansion (DX) System

A Direct Expansion (DX) system is a type of HVAC setup where the evaporator coil is in direct contact with the air stream, cooling it immediately via refrigerant. This is the most common design for residential Central Air Conditioners and Ductless Mini Splits. Unlike "chilled water" systems which use an intermediate fluid, DX systems provide rapid cooling and are much simpler to install and maintain. This technology is the backbone of our Mobile Home Complete Systems because it offers reliable performance in a compact footprint. In a DX system, the Compressor works directly with the refrigerant to remove heat from your home as quickly as possible. Most ACIq equipment utilizes high-efficiency DX coils to maximize thermal transfer. It remains the most popular choice for both new construction and HVAC replacements due to its proven track record. For homeowners looking for straightforward, powerful cooling, a DX system is the industry standard.
