Damper
A damper is a movable plate or valve located inside the ductwork that regulates the volume of air flowing to specific rooms or zones. By adjusting the position of the damper, you can balance the airflow to ensure that bedrooms aren't too cold while the living room stays perfectly comfortable. Manual dampers are adjusted by a lever on the outside of the duct, while motorized versions are controlled by a central thermostat in Multi-Zone Systems. This component is essential for optimizing the performance of any Ducted system to prevent energy waste in unoccupied rooms. If a damper becomes stuck, you may experience "dead zones" where no air reaches the vents despite the fan running. We offer various damper sizes and motorized actuators in our Accessories-Kits section. Proper damper placement is a key part of "Manual D" duct design to ensure the static pressure remains within safe limits. They are the primary tools used to customize the comfort levels of every individual room in your home.
