Control Relay

A control relay is a smaller electrical switch that allows a low-current signal to control a higher-current circuit elsewhere in the HVAC system. These relays are the primary logic gates found on Control Boards used to activate specific functions like the blower fan or the defrost cycle. In complex Multi-Zone Systems, relays manage the communication between the indoor units and the main outdoor condenser. They act as a protective barrier, ensuring that the sensitive microprocessor on the main board isn't exposed to high-voltage surges. If a relay fails, a specific part of your system—like the heater or the fan—may refuse to turn on even if the rest of the unit is fine. Our ACIq and MrCool systems utilize high-cycle relays designed for thousands of operations. Ensuring these relays are functioning correctly is a vital part of seasonal diagnostic checks. They are the silent conductors of your home’s climate control performance.
