The condensate drain pan is a collection tray located underneath the indoor evaporator coil that catches the water that drips off during the cooling process. As the coil removes humidity from the air, the water must be safely funneled into a drain line to prevent interior water damage. In Mobile Home Air Handler units, these pans are often made of high-impact plastic or stainless steel to prevent rust. If the pan becomes clogged or cracked, water can leak into your home’s ductwork or floors, leading to mold. Many of our AC Coil Systems include a secondary drain port for added safety in attic or closet installations. We recommend using specialized drain pan tablets from our Accessories-Kits to keep the pan clear of biological growth. A properly leveled pan is essential for ensuring that gravity can pull the water out of the unit and away from your home.
