Centrifugal Blower

A centrifugal blower, also known as a "squirrel cage" fan, is the most common type of fan used to move air through ductwork in residential homes. It uses a series of curved blades to pull air into the center of the fan and then fling it outward at a 90-degree angle, creating high static pressure. This design is what allows Air Handlers to push air through long duct runs and past tight filters. You can find replacement wheels and motors for these in our Motors-Fans department. These blowers are prized for their ability to move a large volume of air while remaining relatively quiet compared to propeller-style fans. In Mobile Home Furnaces, the centrifugal blower is the heart of the air distribution system. Regular cleaning of the blower blades is necessary, as dust buildup can significantly reduce its efficiency and cause vibration. Most high-efficiency ACIq units use these fans to ensure consistent comfort in every room.
