Carbon Steel Chassis

The carbon steel chassis is the heavy-duty structural frame that supports all the internal components of an outdoor HVAC unit, including the compressor and coils. To prevent the metal from rusting in outdoor environments, it is usually treated with a powder-coated finish or galvanization. A strong chassis is vital for Commercial Packaged Units that are installed on rooftops where they are exposed to high winds and salt air. If the chassis begins to corrode, it can lead to refrigerant leaks if the coils shift or vibrate against the frame. Many of our Mobile Home AC Condensers feature reinforced bases to ensure they remain level on a pad or stand. When paired with a Wall-Mount Bracket, the chassis must be rigid enough to prevent warping under the weight of the unit. This structural foundation is what allows your equipment to last for 15 to 20 years in the elements. It is the "skeleton" of every outdoor ACIq system we sell.
