Bridge Rectifier

A bridge rectifier is an electronic component found on Control Boards that converts alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). Many modern HVAC components, such as LED displays and microprocessors in Inverter Technology systems, require stable DC power to operate. By using a series of four or more diodes, the rectifier ensures that the power flowing to sensitive electronics is consistent and reliable. This part is particularly important in Ductless Mini Splits where complex computer boards manage variable compressor speeds. If the bridge rectifier fails, the entire unit may lose power or display error codes, requiring a board replacement. It serves as a fundamental building block for the energy-saving features found in Cooper-Hunter and other high-efficiency equipment. Protecting your system with a surge protector can prevent high-voltage spikes from damaging these delicate electronic rectifiers.
